A Small First Draft [TerrorForm]

Hey there! It’s 2013, and I’m working on TerrorForm. It’s going slowly since I’m using a new system, but I wanted to get a little something down (and I do mean little) to show some progress. I plan on adding to this so I have a reference for each Phase. Knowing that will help me to solidify the mechanical side of things.

Once I get these Phase sketches done (or likely while I’m working on adding to them), I’m also crafting the basic moves. Right now, I know what they’re named (for now), but I don’t know how they work in play. What’s likely going to happen is that I’ll write on TerrorForm bit by bit as I work to get more experience with *world in play. I mean, I’ve only played a session each of Apocalypse World and Dungeon World. Hardly enough to say that I grok everything that’s going on with the system.

I’m not big on New Year’s resolutions, but I do know this: I’m going to be working with more patience this year. School Daze and One Shot happened so fast. I need to take a lot more time with TerrorForm and make sure that I know exactly what I have in it before  decide it’s ready for print publication. Might there be other quick projects in the meantime? Sure, but I don’t want to commit myself to anything. The theme of this year is taking things at a more measured pace.

I love Phase 1; evocative and interesting. Will you be hard coding it on 3 phases, or to you plan on making 4+ or even a variable number?

Do you know what you are planning on doing with Bonds?

I’m planning on hard-coding in three Phases: Departure, Regenesis, and Homecoming. Shouldn’t be too hard to give folks a framework if they want to keep telling a generational story beyond Homecoming.

Bonds have been bubbling along in the back of my mind, and I think they’re going to look a lot like DW Bonds, but I want to emphasize family and community with them (including all of the messy relationships those things entail).

Fun thing to consider; how HX/bonds work intergenerationally between phases. Perhaps as some kind of lasting influence or social status? Maybe some aspect of world building?
